Le Sénat Canadien a récemment adopté le projet de loi C-46 qui légalisera l’usage récréatif de cannabis à travers le Canada d’ici l’automne 2018.  Avec la mise en place de cette nouvelle législation, certains médecins anticipent des répercussions sur leurs pratiques avec des patients choisissant le cannabis à usage récréatif plutôt que des médicaments sur ordonnance plus traditionnels ou du cannabis médical. D’autres médecins anticipent une augmentation du nombre de visites de patients liées à la dépendance et aux symptômes psychotiques.
